Speech Apprehension

Beginning with interpersonal conversations, the class is designed for students to build their confidence in a variety of speaking environments, including class participation, professional interviews, group presentations, and more formal public speaking. Designed to incrementally expand the students' comfort over the course of the semester, assignments are structured around an individual learning plan established with the student at the beginning of the semester. Students chose their own challenges, complete with a written plan before the goal takes place and reflecting on that experience after the student has attempted to complete that goal. To reduce the strain of percentile grades, this course uses contractual grading instead to encourage students to customize the class based on what their needs are.
